Analysis of the Expansion of the Service Sector into Non-Western Markets

The project contributes to the growing body of research into the institutional and cultural conditions of globalization. It focuses on the tertiary sector and its goods and services, which were key to economic development also in non-Western regions. Taking insurance as a representative branch of the tertiary sector, it analyzes the expansion of the service sector into non-Western markets. The period investigated stretches from the 1870s to the 1970s.

Open access repository and collaborative platform

This repository currently consists of digitized volumes of the Assekuranz-Jahrbuch, which was published between 1880 and 1943. It provides an International Image Interoperability Framework (IIIF) service for external projects, as well as supporting long-term preservation.

Annotations permitting searching of the sections of the volumes will be added in due course, and it is planned to include other digitized journals.
